Some organizations struggle with paperless options
Friday, July 27, 2012Implementing a paperless office through document management and conversion can provide a number of benefits for a business. However, some organizations find it difficult to find the best paperless solution for their operational needs. In Rhinebeck, New York, for example, the board of education for the local school system recently implemented a paperless system that they found more frustrating than helpful, and went back to paper processes.
According to the Daily Freeman, the board needs a way to get rid of its paper-based system. Paul Slayton told the news source that the district's average meeting packet weighs up to two pounds, but it is portable, doesn't take 15 minutes to start up, and can be marked up easily. Before switching to a paperless system, the board needs a solution that matches the versatility of paper.
"It’s got to be easy to use, it’s got to be efficient," Slayton said.
With high-quality document imaging and management solutions, any organization can implement tablets for reading during meetings. Additionally, this can simplify the process of storing and backing up documents, as well as making them available online – a requirement of the Open Meetings Law and process that can take considerable time.
