School district slowly approaches paperless ideas

While schools in the Wachusett Regional District, Massachusetts, have been reducing the amount of paper they purchase and increasing spending on computers, projectors and other paperless products, they consider their approach toward paperless solutions slow but steady.

According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the school is looking to reduce its environmental impact while improving the efficiency of homework and communication between teachers, students and their parents. The schools feel that these efforts have been successful so far.

"When you think, 'What are the 10 things I used paper for last year? Can I cut three of those out?'" Erik Githmark, principal of one of the schools in the district, told the news source. "It's attainable."

The paper noted that September is the heaviest month of the school year for paper consumption, and the district stayed within its allotment.
