Records provide comfort when easily accessible

Because of advantages like cost savings, expanded floor space and assurance that information will be available even if original paper files are destroyed, among others, many organizations are digitizing their records. Hosting documents online using an electronic information management system is often a lucrative choice for many businesses.

It can also be favorable from the point of view of a client. When universities save files online, individuals can access information remotely, allowing for easier research. Parents in New Jersey are claiming similar benefits, as the state's Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) is now making it easier for them to look into the safety of their children.

According to The Associated Press, the agency is now allowing individuals to review the inspection records of buses used by schools across the state. NJMVC.gov will also display the percentage of buses within specific companies that have passed inspection or been removed from the road, for easier reference.

The database will most likely be sizable, the AP inferred, as the MVC inspects 24,000 of the vehicles twice a year. Around half of those do not pass the first time, and require re-inspection or replacement.
