Ambulatory clinic reaches top tier of EMR adoption {VIDEO}

Medical facilities all over the U.S. are on track to go paperless, but few have come close to the ultimate goal of operating with a near-complete digital system, like Springhill Medical Center in Mobile.
Just over 6 percent of the 30,000 ambulatory clinics in the U.S. have adopted electronic medical records to such a point.
The facility recently reached what is called Stage 7, the highest achievement possible for implementing electronic medical records on the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model.
The tiered system that tracks hospitals’ adoption of content management systems is designed to push medical centers to full adoption of electronic medical records by providing certain incentives.
The reason going paperless is so important is because it saves time and money, lifting a heavy burden from the nation’s health care system.
